ART

What is art?  Here’s a partial definition from Wikipedia.

Now what does art mean in Healing Art?   We use the visual art of drawing and painting along with writing/printing to express our emotions, ideas and trigger memory for people with cognitive changes.

Here’s an image that was created in 60 minutes.

Love the Caregiver

Consider what your life would be like if you were a caregiver for someone. Not for money, but because of obligation, love or expectations.

I was my mother’s caregiver. Mom lived with me until she was 97. She died on November 4, 2016. She had lived with me since 2004.  Neither of us had expected that she would have lived that long and there were times when we both talked about the end of her life and also about how she said she was ready to go. The last year and a half of her Life was extremely difficult for her as well as for me. I thought that I was dying along with her. Care giving was so tiring and emotionally draining, but I survived. I created a strong support system.  So can you.

Mom Bubbie Golda was always willing to be Playful!

Red Clay Necklaces

Sharing two of my necklaces. Just playing around with red clay to make these medallions to use with drops of essential oils.

To do today: find something creative to do, for at least one minute. Whatever you want.

Results: frees your mind.

Let’s Oil Up!

I’ve so totally gotten into using Doterra Essential Oils while I create. Staying focused with InTune and Passion for increased creativity. Using on my wrists and behind my ears. Also diffusing my air with Lavender and Peppermint to add a calm. Loving this.

(I’m making medallions and beads to wear in necklaces. Will be placing drops of essential oils onto the dry clay art. Liking this sooooo much.)

Open the Door to Healing!

How’d you like to open your door to stress reduction?   Let’s begin with the cause of your stress. Are you overworked, sleeping little, worried about your family, struggling at work, overweight, or just plain worn out.

I was worn out when I was my mother’s caregiver.  For a year I woke up several times during the night to, “Eileen!”   Mom lived with me.  I was was too overwhelmed by taking care of her.  I couldn’t see beyond this.  I was so tired.

Does this sound like you?  There’s support and help for you.

Sit down.  Set your timer to five minutes.  Close your eyes.  Now imagine yourself sitting on top of a mountain taking in the warmth of the sun. Feel the healing as you take in the sounds of the moment.  Can you imagine the wind whirling, birds tweeting and other sounds of nature?

Five minutes are up!  How do you feel?  Calmer? More focused? More ease? Are you smiling?   You’ve just visited nature to calm and relax  Repeat this whenever you need a moment for yourself.

How to: Close your eyes and imagine yourself on top of a mountain taking in warmth and sounds of nature.  Relax and appreciate this time for yourself.

Results: Do you feel calmer?   Will you repeat this exercise?  It’s a go to for me!  Have a great day.

Take Away for Order!

Let’s organize a small space for the satisfaction of order and simplicity.

An indirect benefit  would result in achieving focus. Focus is so important when doing anything creative.

Take a desktop, counter, table or small drawer to de clutter.  Here’s my counter with  items that have been sitting for 24 hours.

My intention was to move them off the counter to recycle, hang up and put away. Didn’t happen.

So for today’s blog, my assignment was to clean up the space.  I just moved them into appropriate locations.   So easy.

How to: don’t think too long, just pick them up and put them away!

Messy!
Clean counter!!

Results: a quick sense of accomplishment.  Everything is now out of sight and I don’t see a mess.   So easy!
